Any white rum will do but I suggest using Malibu Rum because it will intensify the coconut flavor in the cocktail To make a Pina Colado, you use white rum, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut. It helps cool you down from the Caribbean heat. Just combine the ingredients in a blender and give it a whirl so it’s all slushie. The original recipe is very simple, but this one is even simpler, but just so tasty as well. Pina Coladas are so incredible easy to make. This creation captures the flavors and essence of Puerto Rico perfectly. The cocktail was created at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan by bartender Ramón “Monchito” Marrero. In fact it has been the official drink of Puerto Rico since 1978. The Pina Colada has been a Caribbean staple since 1954.
